Progress Report:
On Beth's first lesson, I couldn't even begin to correct all the problems she had in her swing. So I went back to the basics. The whole time we worked on the grip and the stance. She got only about ten percent of it right. Beth was extremely frustrated, but I told her that it takes a lot of practice and determination. She took this into mind and tried a lot harder.
Beth has improved substantially since her first lesson. She has gotten the stance and grip down, even though she complains that it is very uncomfortable. I told her that she'll get used to it eventually. Anyway, we got to the back swing with one arm. She got the basic principle of it right, but she forgot about the stance and went completely off balance. Hopefully we should be able to iron out the kinks soon. I think that she has really gotten a lot better since our first lesson.
Beth can down a half swing now at her final lesson. She has a very good stance and uses her lower body the way she is supposed to. Occasionally I have to remind her to keep her feet planted, but otherwise she looks good. Unfortunately, she thinks that she is really bad. I reassured her that she was learning fast and that it would take at least a hundred lessons to get to the skill level I'm at now. Still, she gets frustrated frequently and says that golf is so uncomfortable. I told her again that if she sticks to it, she will get used to it. I think that she has accomplished a lot since our first lesson.
