Jacque Ensign
I have been a teacher in public and private P-12 schools in Virginia, West Virginia, Florida, and Scotland. I homeschooled my three children from kindergarten through tenth grade. With a Ph.D. from the University of Virginia in foundations of education, I have taught classes in urban education, foundations of education (culture and schooling, educational reform, the history of Black education in the United States, overview of foundations of education, philosophy of education), special education, research in education, and critical inquiry. My research interests pertain to culturally relevant teaching, mainly focusing on preparing and supporting teachers for effectively teaching in diverse settings. For more about my professional work, check my vita. When not "professoring," I am likely to be found hiking, mountain biking, cross-country running through forests and swamps, or traveling.
