Grading Policy
MAT 139 - Calculus for the Social Sciences - Fall 2008

There is no "curve" in this class.  You are not in competition with your fellow students, in fact, you are encouraged to work with one another on homework assignments and class projects.

There will be 600 points of possible credit.

There will be two midterm exams during the 6th and 9th weeks of the semester which will be worth 100 points each.

There will be 6 quizzes each worth 20 points. Quizzes are worth a total of 100 points -- your lowest quiz score will be dropped.

There will be a comprehensive final exam worth 200 points.  The final exam is mandatory -- you cannot receive a passing grade without taking the final.

You will need to keep a homework portfolio which I will check on a regular basis. Material added to the portfolio after the due date will be counted, but only for half-credit. Homework will be worth 100 points. Homework assignments will be worth 100 points in total.

(I may also make extra credit assignments available to you from time to time.)
