The City:
Urbino is a small, picturesque Renaissance city in the northeastern part of central Italy. It is about 40 minutes away from the beaches of Pesro, Rimini, and wpe18.gif (64424 bytes)Riccione, three hours from Florence and Venice, and four hours from Rome. The University of Urbino, founded in the 16th century, has retained the advantages of its ancient traditions while developing into a modern university center whose campus is practically a city itself. Overview of the program:

In Urbino students have the opportunity for total immersion in Italian life and culture, and constant use of the Italian language.  Urbino also has an academy of fine arts and an art institute with excellent facilities for lithography, printing, etching, ceramics, and graphic design.  Students are housed either in private homes or in a modern dormitory.

Professor Vena has been taking groups of undergraduates and graduate students to Urbino every summer for twenty years.  The following is an overview of the program for July, 1999:  Twenty-eight students are in the program in Italy, from July 1 to August 5.  Students have the option of earning up to 6 undergraduate or graduate credits by taking up to 6 credits of the following courses:
