S.C.S.U. German majors who return from a year or two abroad in the Connecticut-Baden-Wurtemberg Exchange Program  are ideally suited to enter the business world.  They may want to consider earning a graduate business degree, and if so, they have many programs from which to choose.  It would be helpful for such students to have a  minor in business administration  before they finish their bachelor's degree at Southern.

S.C.S.U. offers a Master's in Business Administration degree: Click on:  Master's in Business Administration for information.  However, students with the experience of having spent a year or two abroad may well be prepared for a master's in international business.  There are many options from which to choose.  Please keep in mind that the following are only two sample programs -- and very good ones at that.  Through the internet you can find many more.

I.  The Master's of International Management at Thunderbird University in Arizona may be of interest to you:  Their catalog provides the following information:

"The MIM is different from a traditional MBA in the depth and breadth of international coursework requirements and the foreign language requirement. Although the MIM supports the development of functional skills such as accounting, finance, and marketing, it is encouraged that entering students obtain proficiency in these skills before entering, so as to take full advantage of the upper-level "capstone" courses."

II.  Click on: The Darla Moore School of Business for information about this school, located at the University of South Carolina.  It is a highly respected international business school.  It offers, among other programs, an International Master's of Business Administration:

Introduction to the IMBA program.  Information on the program includes the following:

"To prepare tomorrow's business leaders to face the challenges ahead, one of the finest international business schools in the United States has joined with Austria's most prestigious business school to offer a 15-month, all-English language program of instruction leading to an International Master of Business Administration (IMBA) degree.

At Wirtschaftsuniversität Wien (WU-Wien, Vienna University of Economics and Business Administration), students take a fully internationalized, seven-month business core curriculum taught by the outstanding faculty of both institutions. In the second phase of the program, which is completed at the University of South Carolina, students choose elective courses in international business and other functional fields to further develop their managerial skills. Students also take a capstone course in the strategic management of the globally oriented firm. Teams of IMBA candidates then work on a management consultancy project with a firm in the United States for approximately three months.

The International MBA builds on the best of European and American management education. All students gain first-hand experience living overseas and working on a multicultural team consultancy project. By combining academic preparation and practical experience, the IMBA program provides its graduates a sophisticated approach to managing in a complex global economy.
