2002 Roxbury Race #12

4.3 miles - High Bridge Road

May 4, 2002

Spring Championship

Web guy was absent this week, so he doesn't know what happened.

Who was that guy who won, though.  Named Mark LaRosa?  Do we remember him running for Danbury High School about five years ago, back when they were starting to get really, really good?  If so, he ought to be just about out of college now, and the local road race stars ought to watch out.  It looks like he might be fit and ready to kick some local tail at the road races.

It's the first time we've seen two Kershnar's in the results at the same time.  This race, after all, is named after the late Larry Kershnar, former colleague and friend of Web Guy himself (yes, Web Guy does have a job.  He works for the State, though, so it isn't like a real job.)  Eric is pretty quick, but older brother Steve isn't quite so fast.

We see that Kyle Gancher continues her recovery, lurking about 20 seconds per mile behind perennial winner PQ Pam Quist.  It will be nice when that rivalry gets a little hotter again and PQ has to work for her wins again.

Keyless Bob Derringer continues to talk the leaders.  Now he is only 16 seconds behind once invincible Mike Abraham.   Also, Bob Lewis, up and down in the results like a yo-yo, is up this week, only two places behind former arch rival Scott Benjamin.

This week's top picture is a couple of weeks old, this week's runner up JT Schemm tieing his shoes before the race.  It may have helped, but it didn't help enough for him to win.  The bottom picture is Carl Hunt trying to recruit people to run a 200 mile race with him this September.  It looks like he just might find some takers!

The Roxbury Races are now listed on the Internet both on CoolRunning.com and on HiTekRacing.com.
