4.5 miles - up Chalybes, down Hemlock May 31, 2003 |

Just last week, we wrote "Mark Andrejccyk ran his best Roxbury yet and beat Lou Denaro for the first time ever to take fourth place." Now, this week, in his own words,

Ed, Since you were not there Saturday, I wrote my own commentary on the race, in case you need it. With speedsters Abe, the Fossil, and Lou Denaro all absent this week, the field was as watered down as a cheap light beer. Hungry for their first win, Steve Benoit and Mark Andrejczyk took advantage of the situation. Steve went out early, leading the brigade of Roxbury regulars down Apple Lane. Mark A picked up the pace and passed him at the 1/4 mile mark, opening a 5 second lead as they turned onto South Street. Steve slowly closed the gap, and was breathing down Mark's neck at the bottom of the hill on Chablys. Mark charged up the hill and was able to keep Steve at bay, eventually opening up a 15 second lead that would carry him through the rest of the race. In other news, Mark Losacco and JT Schemm played cat and mouse for the last half mile, with JT sprinting past Mark in the last 100 yards. Mark |
