ROXBURY – Ken Merrick scored his sixth victory of the year Saturday, July 19, at the Roxbury Road Race Series – outrunning hometown favorite Eric Krebs by a just nine seconds.
Nora Hulton captured the women’s division for the third time this year at the weekly series.
Merrick, 34, who took the title at the MidSpring Challenge at Roxbury two months ago, covered the same 4.3-mile course in 26 minutes, 21 seconds.
Krebs, 34, of Roxbury finished second in 26.30.
Mark Andrejczyk, 30, who has improved steadily this year, placed third in 26.50.
Hulton, 39, of Cornwall Bridge was 17th overall with a time of 34.16.
Three will be no race Saturday, July 26, since many of the runners will be competing in the 36th annual New Milford 7.8-miler.
The series will continue Saturday, Aug. 2, at 8.30 a.m. with run over the same 4.3-mile course.
The Roxbury Recreation Commission sponsors the races, which start and finish at the Everett Hurlburt Community Park on West Apple Lane.
