ROXBURY – Ken Merrick scored his eighth win of the season in the weekly Roxbury Road Race Series on Saturday, Aug. 9, and Lynn Zuback, who completed the famed Boston Marathon earlier this year, was the first female finisher over a challenging 7.3-mile course.
Merrick, 34, a graduate of Danbury High School, finished the layout in 47 minutes, four seconds. Lou Denaro placed second in 47:56.
Zuback, 37, a resident of Brookfield, placed 16th overall in 1:03.34.
The series will continue Saturday, Aug. 16, at 8:30 a.m. with run over a 3.95-mile course that will include a trip on a jeep trail. There will be no entry fee.
The Roxbury Recreation Commission sponsors the races, which start and finish at the Everett Hurlburt Community Park on West Apple Lane.
