ROXBURY - Nicholas Haas, 20, of Washington, a former runner at Shepaug Valley High School, captured the third annual Run For A Cure over a challenging 3.1-mile course.
Haas, who now attends Roger Williams University in Rhode Island, covered the layout, which included a trip up the steep hill on Chalybes Road, in 16 minutes, 41 seconds during the Thanksgiving Day run.
Chris McDonald, 18, placed second in 16:51.
Katie Kellogg, 18, a former runner at New Fairfield High School, was the first female finisher, placing 14th overall in the field of 103 entrants with a clocking of 20:28.
The race - which was co-sponsored by the Roxbury Congregational Church, the Roxbury Recreation Commission and the Roxbury Road Race Series - raised $960 for the New Milford Columbia-Presbyterian Hospital Cancer Center.
Collectively, 162 entrants participated either in the 3.1-mile run, the 3.1-mile walk or the 0.3-mile kids road race.
Haas and Kellogg each received an inscribed paperweight for their victory.
