Both the men's and the women's divisions were won by
people running their first Roxbury Races of the year.
Our
women's winner, Theresa Krebs, has lived in Roxbury on Wellers Bridge Road near
the monument for many years, and she's run a 3:15 marathon. She hurried
around the course in 29:42, fifty seconds ahead of the trio of Sinead Blevio,
Peg Molina and Lynn Zuback.
Among the men, Matt Patrick was in town for the weekend, visiting his mother in law for Mothers' Day. He was under three hours at Boston this year. Matt took the lead almost from the start. For a while, Mike Abraham kept him company. After Abe settled back, Ken Merrick moved up and pushed Matt through about two and a half miles, before Matt disappeared. Running alone, though, did not feel all that great. Poor Matt climbed up the jeep trail, which was particularly muddy today, and said he felt like throwing up. Welcome to Roxbury.
Benjamin edges McNulty
Yet
another Roxbury Rivalry is growing around Scott Benjamin. This one
involves Tom McNulty. Neither Scott nor Tom have missed a race yet this
season, and though Scott leads the head-to-head contest by a margin of 8-4, Tom
clings to a scant two point lead in the prestigious Roxbury Points Race.
The pair sit in 13th and 14th places overall, at 301 and 299 points
respectively. Keep your eye on this one.
In other rivalries, Carl Myhill beat Roxbury PE teacher Mo van Moffaert for the first time this season, after four results had gone in Mo's favor.
Another hot rivalry is growing between Mario Hasz and sometime women's winner Sinead Blevio. Though Sinead leads the head-to-head contest by a margin of 7-3, three times they have been only one place apart. This week was the first time the single place has gone to Mario instead of the other way around.
Pictures
We've been leaving the camera at home lately, so we have to recycle pictures for a bit. Maybe we'll remember again soon. In the mean time, up top we have Bob Satterlee, Carl Myhill and Walt Schuttler, haming it up together. In the middle, we have Sinead Blevio with Jeff Field, and Charlie Greystone in the background. Right close here we have a picture of some people loitering after the race, with the parking lot and the pavilion in the background Next to the results, Scott Benjamin presenting the awards after the Championship race, and way down at the bottom are some of Web Guy's favorite pictures from Slovenia.
Late Results
Now, Web Guy has gone to North Carolina for a week. Next week's results will be a week late.
