Hunt & Kellogg Take Home The Goods

David Hunt and Katie Kellogg crossed the line victorious at this year's MidSummer Championship event.  Dave beat the tough Squire Rd. course in 30:23, 10 seconds in front of second place finisher T. Perrault.  Katie won the women's race in 35:28, besting second place finisher Laura Perrault by 28 seconds.

The race got off to a fast start, with New Fairfield's Jeff Nelson challenging the field to keep up.  He might have led wire to wire but for a wrong turn on the course.  In the end, Dave earned the win by fending off Perrault and Andrejczyk to take home his second Roxbury win this year.  For Katie, this was her fifth win, and she trails Theresa Krebs by just one win in that category.

For the Perrault's, this marks their first Roxbury race this year.  Second place finishes make for a very strong first showing, and we hope they'll join us again.

 Pictures

Lots of new pictures this week!  Up top is a picture of our MidSummer champs Dave Hunt and Katie Kellogg.  On the right is Laura Perrault gliding in ahead of Mike Mayer, Paul Teixeira and Mark Zerbe.  Below that is a shot of Scott Benjamin modeling one of those flashy Roxbury sweatshirts for Andrea and the rest of the crowd during the award ceremony.  At the bottom is Fossil's dragon.  It has been a fixture at the bottom of these pages for so long that I am afraid to remove it.

Did I get a picture of you?  Click here for more pictures from this race.

Marathons

Response to the idea of a December Marathon has been positive.  Scott Benjamin has offered to take the lead in getting it organized.  Nothing is firm yet.  If you have ideas, talk to Scott, or talk to Fossil, or eMail Web Guy (address above)  We'll remind you of the issues.

  1. When?  Second week in December has been suggested.  Someone else suggested just telling people it's 2.4 miles, then surprising everyone.
  2. Course - We're gradually converging on the idea of a longer loop, six to eight miles, at the beginning, followed several shorter loops, probably 3.55 miles.  This would make it so we could have LOTS of water stops with just a few volunteers.  However, the numbers don't work out to use the usual 6.4 mile Falls Road loop.  Any suggestions for a fairly un-Alp-like opening loop?
  3. Relays?  Some people like to do Marathon Relays.  Would we want to include that, too?  How about a half-marathon at the same time?   (Answer: People seem to think we should include a marathon relay.)
  4. Who?  Who wants to take charge of all this? (Answer:  Scott Benjamin, plus whoever wants to help)
