4.2 miles - Hemlock/Ranney September 10, 2005 8:30 am. 70 degrees, sunny, beautiful |

81 people all shared the same idea of a good time on Saturday morning and came
out for the 4.2 mile Hemlock/Ranney race. On this day Anthony Vento and
Allison Lind were faster than the rest of the crowd, covering the course in
24:15 and 25:50 respectively.
This was Anthony's first Roxbury race of the year, which makes him unbeaten whenever he's attended. He managed to hold off a surging Ken Merrick who started out slower and picked off the pack coming off Hemlock and climbing Ranney.
Allison's impressive streak of wins is now at lucky 13. She's never lost at Roxbury, and in last Monday's New Haven 20k she posted a fast 1:16:40 (6:10 pace).
Safety
Fossil has three rules of running:
Be safe
Have fun
Be nice to the drivers. For the most part, they like us, and they are proud to have us running in Roxbury. Smile, and, if you wave, be sure you us all five fingers.
This week's pictures
Up top is a shot of this week's winner Allison Lind.
A bit farther down we have Dermott
Quigley, our correspondent in Ireland, the one whose eMail uses green
electrons. He was in America to check up on the races, and while he's here
he's visiting his relatives, including his daughter Sinnead. He'll be
around for a couple of weeks. Here he's discussing issues with Chris
"Critter" Powderly.
Along side the results we have Lynnie Zuback and Sinnead Blevio smiling, with Ron Karl behaving himself in the background. Then there's a shot of Christina Clark going fast, and then one of Fast Mario Hasz and his wife Diane, the Belle of the Finish Line.
Down at the bottom, we have three women smiling after the race, Fossil meeting a dragon in Germany, and a collection of three sets of feet.
We have more great pictures from this week's race, but Web Guy didn't find enough to write about, so there isn't room. Maybe we'll use some of them next week.
The Roxbury Races are now listed on the Internet both on RunningInTheUSA and on HiTekRacing.com
