LaRosa Scores Fourth
Successive Roxbury Victory
ROXBURY – John LaRosa, 25, posted his fourth consecutive
victory at the Roxbury Road Race Series, outrunning 2005 season champ Jeff
Sheldon, 26, of Southbury by nearly half a minute over a rolling 3.95 mile
course.
LaRosa
covered the layout, which included a jeep trail at the beginning of the third
mile, in 22-minutes, 2-seconds.
Sheldon placed second in 22:30.
Jenna Hannibal, 29, of Washington annexed the female title
and placed eighth overall in 27:46. It was her second consecutive win in the
women’s division at the weekly series.
The series, which is sponsored by the Roxbury Recreation
Commission, will continue Saturday, Apr. 7, at 8:30 a.m. with a 4.2-mile course
that will include a trip down the long hill on Hemlock Road and up the long
incline along Ranny Hill Road. There will be no entry fee.
The races start and finish near the Everett Hurlburt
Community Park on West Apple Lane.

Safety
Safety is important to us, as we don't run on closed roads and generally like each other.
It is safest if we face traffic as much
as possible. Also, it is safer if we are all on the same side of the road,
instead of making traffic drive between runners.
Fossil has three rules of running:
-
Be safe
-
Have fun
-
It's more fun if you run well
Be nice to the drivers. For
the most part, they like us, and they are proud to have us running in
Roxbury. Smile, and, if you wave, be sure you use all five fingers.
