I studied Religion and German both in college and in graduate school. My major scholarly interest was in the Middle Ages, and I wrote a dissertation on the treatment of the biblical Passion narrative in sermons and plays in the late 15th and early 16th centuries. I have written and presented on Passion Plays in central Germany in the Late Middle Ages.

I am also extremely interested in Foreign Language Acquisition and the application of technology to the acquisition process. I have developed numerous multimedia activities for learners of elementary and intermediate German. In addition, I have worked with colleagues in French and in Spanish to develop multimedia materials which are useful in acquiring those languages. I have also developed several different templates which can be used by instructors of any Western foreign language to improve students' phonetic abilities, to extend the oral proficiency of students, and to assess communicative competence in the four skills of speaking, listening, reading and writing.

As Director of the Foreign Language Lab at Southern Connecticut State University, I work with faculty and students in the department to employ computers and other technology in the curriculum.
