The Certified Treasury Professional® (CTP) designation serves as a benchmark of competency in the finance profession and is recognized as the leading credential in corporate treasury worldwide. Sponsored by the Association for Financial Professionals® (AFP), the CTP® credential signifies that you have demonstrated the knowledge and skills required to effectively execute critical functions related to corporate liquidity, capital and risk management. In today’s environment, companies are looking for proven and ethical professionals.
The Certified Treasury Professional Certificate Program at Southern’s School of Business is designed for working professionals and focuses on the required knowledge needed for exam preparation with the scheduling flexibility that is essential to accommodate busy professional and personal lives. Lead faculty members deliver this program in a hybrid format; a combination of face-to face and online instruction that allows for both direct contact with the instructor and flexible scheduling.
The entire 36-hour program takes place over the course of six weeks and covers the modules listed below:
- Module One: Financial Management in Corporations (6 hours)
- Module Two: The Corporate Treasury Management Function (6 hours)
- Module Three: Financial Statements & Working Capital Management (6 hours)

The Association for Financial Professionals confers the CTP credential to those who pass an exam and have a minimum of two years of relevant experience. According to the 2018 AFP® Compensation Report, the CTP designation has a direct influence on an employee’s upward mobility, earning potential (on average 15% more than colleagues without the certification), and expansion of job responsibilities due to their improved knowledge base.
This certificate will provide participants with the requisite knowledge to sit for the CTP exam. The program will be guided by faculty experts at SCSU who will follow the standards outlined in “The Essentials of Treasury Management” offered by the Association for Financial Professionals (AFP).
