This collection also has primary sources, circulating books regarding Women's Studies, and multi-media sources. All of these can be accessed through your Consuls library account.

Directory of Women's Organizations in Connecticut

The Permanent Commission of the Status of Women's 18th Edition of The Directory of Women's Organizations in Connecticut includes Connecticut statewide agencies and women's organizations by county. Each organization does work that is crucial to improving the status of women and families in Connecticut.

The Feminist Majority Foundation's Campus Leadership Program

Designed specifically to promote leadership among young feminists, the Choices Campus Community uses cutting-edge technology to connect feminist student leaders, supportive faculty and community members throughout the US and the world. Using chatrooms, bulletin boards and other interactive tools, feminist activists have access to free Online Organizing Workshops hosted by FMF's professional organizers, FMF's acclaimed Study & Action Manual, and a wide range of other activist resources.

Girl Up

Girl Up is a United Nations Foundation campaign that gives American girls the opportunity to become global leaders and channel their energy and compassion to raise awareness and funds for United Nations programs that help some of the world's hardest-to-reach adolescent girls.

International Fellowship of Reconciliation

The International Fellowship of Reconciliation (IFOR) is an international, spiritually-based movement composed of people who commit themselves to active nonviolence as a way of life and as a means of transformation--personal, social, economic and political. IFOR has consultative status with the United Nations (ECOSOC and UNESCO).

National Women's Studies Association (NWSA)

NWSA supports and promotes feminist/womanist teaching, learning, research, and professional and community service at the pre-K through post-secondary levels and serves as a locus of information about the inter-disciplinary field of Women's Studies for those outside the profession.

Nobel Women's Initiative

The Nobel Women's Initiative was created by six female winners of the Nobel Peace Prize "to promote, spotlight, and amplify the work of women's rights activists, researchers, and organizations worldwide addressing the root causes of violence, in a way that strengthens and expands the global movement to advance nonviolence, peace, justice, and equality." The Nobel Women's Initiative publishes an annual report, as well as, other reports such as "From Survivors to Defenders: Women Confronting Violence in Mexico, Honduras,  Guatemala;" "Survivors Speak Out: Sexual Violence in Sudan;" and "Partners for Peace: Women in Israel and Palestine Working for an End to the Conflict."

Commission on the Status of Women (UN)

The Commission on the Status of Women (CSW) is the principal global intergovernmental body exclusively dedicated to the promotion of gender equality and the empowerment of women. A functional commission of the Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC), it was established by Council resolution 11 (II) of 21 June 1946. The CSW is instrumental in promoting women's rights, documenting the reality of women's lives throughout the world, and shaping global standards on gender equality and the empowerment of women.

Know Your IX

Know Your IX was founded in 2013 and is a grassroots, national survivor-run, student-driven campaign to end campus sexual violence. Their mission is "to educate our fellow students about their rights and empower them to take action for safety and equality on campus; and bring students' voices, experiences, and concerns to policymakers writing the next chapter in Title IX's history."

Permanent Commission on the Status of Women
Since 1973, the PCSW has provided valuable research and analysis to the Legislature and state leaders regarding such issues as sex discrimination in education, employment and credit, the health and safety of pregnant workers, child day care, women in nontraditional employment, sexual harassment, child support enforcement, equal education, women and healthcare, the economic status of women and welfare policy.

The Status of Women & Girls in New Haven, CT

This report is the result of conversations over nearly two years among women leaders in New Haven about the growing need for data on women and girls in New Haven. The report has four goals: 1) To provide baseline information on women and girls in New Haven; 2) To inform policy and program priorities for women and girls in New Haven; 3) To provide easily accessible data on women and girls in New Haven; and 4) To create a platform for advocacy and dialogue on issues affecting women and girls in New Haven.

UN Fund for Gender Equality

The Fund for Gender Equality is a UN Women grant-making mechanism dedicated exclusively to the economic and political empowerment of women worldwide. Since its launch in 2009, the Fund has delivered grants of USD 56.5 million to 96 grant programs in 72 countries. Each program supports women, especially those who are marginalized, with what they need and require to regain control over their lives, whether they are trying to start a business or initiate a grassroots movement.

The UN Trust Fund to End Violence against Women is a testimony to the global consciousness that violence against women and girls is neither inevitable nor acceptable. The UN Trust Fund is a leading global grants making mechanism exclusively dedicated to addressing violence against women and girls in all its forms. It supports effective initiatives that demonstrate that violence against women and girls can be systematically addressed, reduced, and with persistence, eliminated.

UN Women: United Nations Entity for Gender Equality and the Empowerment of Women

UN Women, among other issues, works for the elimination of discrimination against women and girls; empowerment of women; and achievement of equality between women and men as partners and beneficiaries of development, human rights, humanitarian action and peace and security.
