bachelor of science in public health
Southern's unique bachelor's degree in public health, one of the first in the country, prepares students to assume positions in a broad array of public health careers, thereby increasing their potential for job placement.
The program consists of a 42-credit core curriculum, and 6 credits of professional experience through a rigorous field internship. University and academic distribution requirements total 46 credits and the remaining 27 credits are for electives. Majors may develop a minor in an academic area which complements the public health major.
JOIN the listserv
The DPH listserv is a virtual bulletin board where you can post questions, comments, classified ads (i.e., books for sale) and respond to items posted by others, using standard E-mail. The listserv will allow you to send one message to a central address and have the message distributed to all subscribers. The subscribers to the listserv share a common interest, enrollment in the Department's public health undergraduate major. If someone responds to your message, that response is, in turn, distributed to all subscribers. The result is a continuous conversation to which you can contribute or simply read as it progresses.
