Professional Development Institute
African American/ Black/Puerto Rican/Latino Studies
Gladys Labas, associate professor of educational leadership and policy studies; Regine Randall, associate professor of curriculum and learning; and Carlos Torre, professor of curriculum and learning, have planned a three-day institute for school-based professionals throughout the state of Connecticut as they embark upon the effort to teach this new state curriculum.
In partnership with the Connecticut State Department of Education and the State Education Resource Center, this opportunity is being presented to all high school educators and university faculty in teacher preparation programs to help teachers better understand the approaches and historical perspective required to teach African American, Black, Puerto Rican and Latino Studies.
The three-day institute will feature speakers from within the SCSU community as well as outside of it. Registration is FREE for SCSU faculty and student teacher candidates.
