Brief Description of Duties/Responsibilities:

The Computer Science Department invites applications for a tenure-track position beginning August 2014 in the rank of assistant professor. The successful candidate will be expected to teach CS core courses and graduate courses in networking and security in support of the Department's new masters-degree concentrations. Candidate must be committed to teaching within vibrant/demanding public liberal arts and sciences environment, and demonstrate the potential for excellence in teaching, mentoring and research with undergraduates. Candidate must also demonstrate ability to supervise master's level research and stimulate undergraduate research. All faculty at SCSU share in student advising and participate in department/university service. Nominal teaching load is 12 credit-hours per semester.

Tenure-track faculty at SCSU are expected to conduct creative activity/research in their area of expertise. These activities include, but are not limited to, research leading to publication of books and/or articles in academic and professional journals, performances in the fine and performing arts, seeking funding in support of research and teaching needs, and contributing to workshops and conferences.

Required Qualifications:

PhD is required. If ABD, the candidate must have an earned doctorate by time of appointment.

Preferred Qualifications:

Equivalent of two years' experience teaching computer science courses and a demonstrated record of scholarship.
