Kim Collins’ flexibility, sensitivity and passion for the flute have allowed her to have a multi-faceted career as a performing artist and teacher. She is Principal Flutist with Waterbury Symphony, with which she has performed in the capacity of soloist on numerous occasions. She also performs with the Albany, Springfield, Vermont, and New Haven Symphony Orchestras and has toured as soloist with the New England Symphonic Ensemble throughout China, Europe, and the Middle East. One of Kim’s true loves is playing “in the pit.” She performs with Wicked on Broadway as well as with touring Broadway shows at venues throughout Connecticut. She has been heard performing with artists such as Deep Purple, Kansas, LeAnn Rimes, Peter Cetera, Clay Aiken, Il Divo, Peter Frampton, Yes, and Brian Wilson. Kim is also an avid chamber musician. She is a founding member of the woodwind quintet Harmonia V, with which she concertizes throughout the tri-state area. Kim received her education from the Hartt School, where she also served on the faculty of the Community Division for many years. Prior to teaching at Southern, Kim also served on the faculties of Fairfield University, Choate Rosemary Hall, and the Neighborhood Music School.
