Camera Obscura

Camera Obscura publishes creative feminist perspectives on film, television, and visual media. The journal "encompasses a spectrum of media practices including avant-garde, alternative, fringe, international, and mainstream."

Feminist Review

The Feminist Review is a British peer-reviewed, interdisciplinary journal that publishes articles focusing on "critical reflection on the relationship between materiality and representation, theory, and practice, subjectivity and communities, contemporary and historical formations. The FR Collective is committed to exploring gender in its multiple forms and interrelationships."

Feminist Studies

Feminist Studies was the first scholarly journal in women's studies. Pieces in Feminist Studies place emphasis on the intersections of gender with topics such as sexuality, economics, geographical location, and race. Furthermore, the journal publishes not only scholarly articles but features creative pieces such as fiction, poetry, and photo essays.

Feminist Theory

"Feminist Theory is an international peer-reviewed journal that provides a forum for critical analysis and constructive debate within feminism." Feminist Theory is an incredibly interdisciplinary journal that integrates approaches from several different fields in the humanities and social sciences. 

Frontiers: A Journal of Women's Studies

Frontiers: A Journal of Women's Studies produces articles that cover extensive issues in women's studies such as "motherhood and maternalism" and "Latina/Chicana leadership." The journal includes fiction, art, and poetry as well.

Gender and Society

Gender and Society is the official journal of Sociologists for Women in Society. It is a top-ranked journal in sociology and women's studies and publishes "the latest research and theory on the social and structural implications of gender."

Hypatia: A Journal of Feminist Philosophy

Hypatia is a scholarly journal focusing on "research at the intersection of philosophy and women's studies and is a leader in reclaiming the work of women philosophers."

The Institute for Women's Policy Research (IWPR)

The Institute for Women's Policy Research (IWPR) is a public policy research organization dedicated to informing and stimulating the debate on public policy issues of critical importance to women and their families. IWPR focuses on issues of poverty and welfare, employment and earning, work and family issues, the economic and social aspects of health care and domestic violence, and women's civic and political participation.

Intersections: Women and Gender Studies Undergraduate Journal

Intersections is published by the Women and Gender Studies Student Union at the University of Toronta. The journal encourages authors to utilize transnational feminist theories and publishes articles on the issues of "gender, sexuality, race, and social justice. The mandate of this...undergraduate journal is to nuance the entangled processes of (hetero)sexism, racism, homophobia, xenophobia, colonialism, etc. and their various manifestations in the material and discursive world." Intersections welcomes submissions for the publication but will turn away any material that do not use anti-oppressive frameworks.

The JFSR publishes "feminist scholarship in religion and functions as a forum for discussion and dialogue among women and men of differing feminist perspectives."

Journal of Women, Politics, & Policy: A Quarterly Journal of Research & Policy Studies

The Journal of Women, Politics, & Policy publishes articles that examine issues concerning women and government (social, public policy, etc.) from a national and a comparative perspective. 

Journal of Women's History

The Journal of Women's History is dedicated to publishing scholarship in the field of international women's history. It "promotes comparative and transnational methods and approaches to historical constructions of gender as they shape and are in turn shaped by women's experiences."

NWSA Journal: an official publication of the National Women's Studies Association

The NWSA Journal is the official publication of the National Women's Studies Association. It publishes "interdisciplinary, multi-cultural feminist scholarship linking feminist theory with teaching and activism."

off our backs: A Women's News Journals

off our backs is one of the oldest feminist publications that published news on feminist issues in the form of articles, commentary, reviews, news, and letters. The journal stopped publication in 2008.

Signs: Journal of Women in Culture and Society

Signs is an interdisciplinary journal that links feminist theory and women's lives.

Social Politics: International Studies in Gender, State and Society

Social Politics is an interdisciplinary and multicultural journal that examines politics and culture from a gendered perspective. Articles address changes in the family, state, market, and civil society.

Women's Review of Books

Women's Review of Books published reviews of several books and also publishes poetry, job and conference announcements, and a list of books received.

Women's Studies Quarterly

The Women's Studies Quarterly "publishes theme issues on various topics on women's studies and feminist teaching. May include poetry, book reviews, course reading lists or syllabi. Features notices of conferences and publications and a 'resources' section of organizations, videos, web sites, and electronic products."

Yale Journal of Law & Feminism (YJLF)

The Yale Journal of Law & Feminism is a journal that provides a space for the discussion of women's experiences in the realm of law. YJLF has included articles about reproductive rights, the feminization of poverty, the concerns of women of color, and the judicial prosecution of prostitutes.
