Valerie Dripchak

Valerie L. Dripchak holds an MSW degree and a PhD degree from Fordham University, New York.  She has been a full time faculty member at SCSU since 1999 and is a tenured full professor. She is the former director of MSW Graduate Admissions and the former coordinator of the department’s continuing education programs. Dr. Dripchak is also a licensed clinical social worker in Connecticut and Massachusetts and has been a practicing therapist with children, adults and families for more than thirty years.

Her teaching responsibilities primarily have been in the graduate program’s clinical areas where she created 3 courses for the program (crisis intervention, brief treatment and advanced practice in addictions) and redesigned 5 courses on both the foundation and practice levels. Her research experience has been in the areas of trauma and trauma-related topics.

Dr. Dripchak has also received grants for studies in clinical interventions, assessment of teaching, and training for part-time faculty. She has authored 8 journal articles (several of them achieved recognition from associations), 12 book chapters, and 5 reviews. Dr. Dripchak also has presented at 30 workshops at international, national and local conferences on clinical and research areas.
