Mindful Life Coaching at SCSU

Mindfulness, in essence, is being present in the here and now.  It is learning how to be fully aware and paying attention to what is going on in the present moment.  There are many times when we do this without thinking.  When we are fully concentrating on an activity, sport or connecting with nature, and we focus our attention without thoughts of the past or the future, that is when we are being mindful.  Living regularly in that place is much more of a challenge, and is not something that we typically do.  

By learning mindfulness, you open yourself up to learning that ‘right now’ is the key - that being present-focused is critical to contentment. We do not have five minutes ago, and we are not guaranteed five minutes from now, so why spend so much time in those places?

 In this series, you will learn to be aware of your present experience. You will be encouraged to let external distractions go and be an internal witness to your emotional and mental content and take the fruits of that into your daily reactions.  Learning to be mindful allows you to manage many dynamics at once which can make a very positive impact on you and those around you.
