Alcohol and Other Drug Services (AOD) serves as the campus resource for students seeking information and personal assistance for substance abuse.

Southern students have access to multiple resources on alcohol and other drugs. Our programs and services aim to reduce harmful consequences associated with the use of alcohol and other drugs, to support you in achieving your personal and academic goals.

Consultation and Outreach

Presentations are available to classrooms, residential staff, and athletic teams about alcohol and other drug services and support resources both on and off campus.

Self-Assessments and Screenings

If you are questioning whether you have a problem with alcohol or other drugs, or with gambling, please take an assessment online.

Educational Programs

  • BASICS (Brief alcohol screening and intervention for College Students)
  • BASICS is a three-session assessment and education program offered to students who want to explore their alcohol and marijuana use and wish to change their use and behaviors.
  • Alcohol Wise is a web-based prevention course on alcohol providing education about alcohol’s effect on the body, moderation and health risks associated with use.

Support

We offer 12-step meetings and peer support groups on campus to support students, and we can provide you with information about resources and support groups in the community.
