The major purpose of the sixth-year professional program is to extend the professional knowledge of practitioners in school programs for exceptional children. Corollary objectives provide for advanced professional preparation in special education, expansion of knowledge concerning other areas of exceptionality, and creation of an awareness of the problems concerned with special education administration and supervision. The program is open to candidates who hold a master’s degree.
The Sixth Year Certificate in Adaptive Technology prepares students for specialized careers supporting students with disabilities through technology-based solutions. They may find roles in rehabilitation centers, nonprofits, or edtech companies focused on inclusive design. This credential equips professionals to assess student needs, implement adaptive tools, and train educators and families. It also prepares them to lead initiatives that promote equitable access to learning and improve outcomes for diverse learners.
