Dr. Will Hochman, professor of English, was a dynamic Southern educator for 18 years who worked tirelessly as an advocate for equitable access to higher education. During his time at Southern, he was a leader in teaching, scholarship, and creative activities — having achieved national recognition for his poetry and critical work on J.D. Salinger.
Professor Hochman mentored countless students as a passionate writing instructor, particularly in promoting digital composition. Your gift in support of the Will Hochman Award will honor his legacy and will follow his example of recognizing excellence in Southern students. He is greatly missed.
