Our Mission
The mission of the SCSU Foundation's endowment is to support the people, programs, and activities of the university in perpetuity. Over the years, growth of the endowment through investment return and charitable giving has enabled the university to provide scholarships to students, build faculty excellence, launch new programs and research efforts, and support a wide range of important needs.
Establishing an Endowed Scholarship Fund
Establishing a scholarship is one of the most meaningful ways of ensuring that Southern's 125-year tradition of excellence will continue to be available to the most talented students, whatever their family circumstances. When you fund a scholarship, you help these students realize the dream of a college education and prepare for a successful career. Your gift of $25,000 or more (payable over five years) to the SCSU Foundation is all it takes to start an endowed scholarship that will help Southern students for generations to come.
Your scholarship fund can be established in your own name as a way of saying "thank you" for a fine education, or you can name it in memory of a loved one or in honor of a person you admire. Scholarships can also be established posthumously through a bequest in your will to the SCSU Foundation. Southern's development staff will work with you to craft scholarship criteria that reflect what is important to you.
