Retirement
- Adjunct Faculty at Southern Connecticut State University (SCSU) must submit an irrevocable election to either enroll in or waive participation in the State Employees Retirement System on or before their contract start date. Adjunct Faculty who do not submit an election form by their contract start date will be automatically and irrevocably defaulted into participation in the SERS Tier IV Hybrid plan.
- Please Note: This is an irrevocable decision that will apply to all future Adjunct Faculty positions with the State of Connecticut. Adjunct Faculty who enroll in a retirement plan and are later hired into a full‑time retirement‑eligible position will be required to remain in previously elected plan. Adjunct Faculty who waive participation in State Employees Retirement System and are later hired into a full‑time retirement‑eligible position will have the opportunity to make a new retirement plan election from the retirement options available at that time.
