Southern needs alumni volunteers like you to offer the most effective programs and services possible.
Volunteer for The A to G Program (Admissions to Graduation)
This CASE-Gold Award Winning Program follows a student from Admissions through and past graduation, forming a complete circle of the student experience.
Alumni Professionals Day
You will have the opportunity to meet many students who are interested in your profession. The purpose of the day is for students to sit down in a relaxed atmosphere with alumni from a wide variety of professions to find out what it is really like to do what you do. These frank discussions are extremely important for our students, especially those who have not yet chosen a career path.
Volunteer to be a mentor to a student! Meet your mentee Alumni-Student Mentoring Kick-Off Reception. Alumni share their time and talents with our students by mentoring them in a professional field of interest.
Learn more about volunteering as a mentor.
Help a student by offering an internship to gain real-world work experience in their area of interest. It's been proven that students with internship experience are far more likely than their counterparts without it to achieve employment in their field sooner! We work with the Career Services at Southern to list internships for our students.
What happens after graduation? Alumni Networks! We are forming alumni networks in the following areas for both social and professional networking. New Haven, Hartford, Northwest Connecticut, New London, Fairfield, Western Connecticut, Middlesex County, Boston, New York, Southeastern Florida, Southwestern Florida, Atlanta, and Washington, DC.
Networks help alumni connect with each other, stay connected to SCSU and open a wide range of new relationships in your professional field and in your social network.
Please contact Doreen Cammarata-Gilhuly if you would like to help with a network in your area.
