Council for Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Programs (CACREP)

The Council for Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Programs (CACREP) is the leading accrediting body for graduate counseling programs in the United States. CACREP accreditation reflects a program’s adherence to nationally recognized standards for counselor education, training, and professional preparation.

A CACREP-accredited program meets rigorous criteria related to curriculum content, faculty qualifications, supervised clinical experiences, and ongoing evaluation of student learning and outcomes. These standards ensure that students receive comprehensive preparation in foundational counseling competencies, ethical practice, multicultural responsiveness, and evidence-based approaches to care.

Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation (CAEP) Accreditation

CAEP-accredited programs demonstrate strong alignment between coursework, clinical practice, and evidence-based teaching competencies. Accreditation standards emphasize high-quality clinical partnerships, qualified faculty, continuous assessment of candidate performance, and the use of data to improve program effectiveness.
