DEI Annual Conference

The Division of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion will host its third annual DEI conference to begin the 2025-2026 academic year.

Artivism: Using Art for Good

Step away from the noise and step into community. Join us for a vibrant, hands-on art experience—where music, sewing, collaging, and creative expression become pathways to connection, reflection, and joy. In this uplifting space, we’ll pause the chaos of the world and rediscover what it means to create for good. Come ready to make, connect, and feel inspired.

Date: Friday, September 19, 2025
Time: 9:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.

Keynote Speaker

Lianna Wallace

The conference will feature a distinguished keynote by Lianna Wallace. Liana Wallace is a poet, activist, and writer whose work bridges subversive art and collective liberation. Raised in Evanston, a suburb of Chicago, she began performing in churches and community centers, where her passion for poetry and justice first took root. Her voice has since been featured on Chicago’s Heartland radio show and at the Moran Center’s 2018 Award Ceremony honoring Congressman John Lewis.

Registration opens August 19, 2025.

About the Annual Conference

The division hosts an annual conference that aims to build better relationships and connections between students, faculty, staff, and administrators by engaging in timely and relevant dialogues and conversations. Additionally, the conference targeted breakout sessions focused on practical tools, critical conversations, and opportunities to build community within the institution. Our overall goals include:

  • Creating educational opportunities that contribute to student success
  • Fostering positive employee environments, and
  • Providing space for community-building across the institution.
