Social Media and Content Producer

Southern Connecticut State University’s Office of Integrated Communications and Marketing is seeking a self-motivated and creative student to fill the role of Social Media and Content Producer. The successful candidate will be proactive with the ability to:

  • Stay organized and meet deadlines, ensuring all social media communications are accurate, audience-appropriate, and aligned with the university's mission and goals.
  • Approach challenges with positivity and adaptability, finding solutions to move work forward.
  • Maintain professionalism while managing competing priorities in a dynamic environment.
  • Build strong working relationships with teammates and other university departments.

Responsibilities

  • Support full-time staff with marketing and communication projects and tasks.
  • Create written and visual content for Southern’s social media platforms, including:
    • Instagram
    • TikTok
    • Facebook
    • LinkedIn
    • Twitter/X
  • Develop brand-compliant, visually appealing content using tools like Canva.
  • Attend campus events to collect content (photos, videos, stories) for social media.
  • Manage social media campaigns showcasing Southern’s students, services, programs, and events.
  • Use scheduling tools (e.g., Sprout Social, Buffer) to post content and track analytics.
  • Help analyze data monthly to guide future engagement strategies.
  • Stay informed on social media trends and best practices for effective outreach.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support team goals.

Required Qualifications

  • Passion for and understanding of social media.Strong writing, editing, and communication skills.
  • Proficiency with graphic design or video editing tools (e.g., Canva, Adobe Spark/Rush).
  • Interest or experience in photography and video production for social media.
  • Familiarity with social media analytics.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
  • Availability to work 8–15 hours per week.
  • Positive, collaborative attitude.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience managing social media accounts beyond personal use.
  • Enrollment in a related field of study (e.g., communication, marketing, journalism, media studies) or relevant marketing and communications experience.
  • Strong portfolio showcasing creative content.
  • Familiarity with Southern Connecticut State University’s mission and culture.
