Southern Connecticut State University’s Office of Integrated Communications and Marketing is seeking a self-motivated and creative student to fill the role of Social Media and Content Producer. The successful candidate will be proactive with the ability to:
- Stay organized and meet deadlines, ensuring all social media communications are accurate, audience-appropriate, and aligned with the university's mission and goals.
- Approach challenges with positivity and adaptability, finding solutions to move work forward.
- Maintain professionalism while managing competing priorities in a dynamic environment.
- Build strong working relationships with teammates and other university departments.
Responsibilities
- Support full-time staff with marketing and communication projects and tasks.
- Create written and visual content for Southern’s social media platforms, including:
- TikTok
- Twitter/X
- Develop brand-compliant, visually appealing content using tools like Canva.
- Attend campus events to collect content (photos, videos, stories) for social media.
- Manage social media campaigns showcasing Southern’s students, services, programs, and events.
- Use scheduling tools (e.g., Sprout Social, Buffer) to post content and track analytics.
- Help analyze data monthly to guide future engagement strategies.
- Stay informed on social media trends and best practices for effective outreach.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support team goals.
Required Qualifications
- Passion for and understanding of social media.Strong writing, editing, and communication skills.
- Proficiency with graphic design or video editing tools (e.g., Canva, Adobe Spark/Rush).
- Interest or experience in photography and video production for social media.
- Familiarity with social media analytics.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
- Availability to work 8–15 hours per week.
- Positive, collaborative attitude.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience managing social media accounts beyond personal use.
- Enrollment in a related field of study (e.g., communication, marketing, journalism, media studies) or relevant marketing and communications experience.
- Strong portfolio showcasing creative content.
- Familiarity with Southern Connecticut State University’s mission and culture.
