Experience the Solar Eclipse at SCSU:

Save the date: Monday, April 8th

Watch the eclipse from the campus planetarium with Dr. Elliott Horch and Professor Eric Anderson between 1:30 and 4:30pm (with the maximum of the partial eclipse at 3:27pm) as they live stream the total eclipse from Cleveland, Ohio.  Overflow seating will be available in a nearby classroom. 

You may also watch the eclipse on campus with Dr. Cooper-Boemmels (Earth Science) outside the Academic Science Building in the rock garden.  Eclipse glasses will be provided.

Don't miss out on the chance to witness this celestial event! Brought to you by the SCSU Earth Science and Physics Departments.

SCSU Innovation Hub Connecting Students and Professionals of Color 2024 Event!

Upcoming Seminars at The Werth Center for Coastal and Marine Studies:

Join us for the 19th Annual Long Island Sound Seminar Series, hosted by the Werth Center for Coastal and Marine Studies. The first presentation is finished but this series has two more insightful presentations by esteemed professionals in the field of marine science. This series will take place at the Academic Science Building 210, scheduled from 1:00 to 2:00 pm, these include:

  1. April 10, 2024: Yuan Liu of the NOAA Milford Laboratory will present on "Application of eDNA Metabarcoding to Study Marine Biological Resources."
  2. April 17, 2024: Katharine A. Owens, National Geographic Explorer and Fulbright Nehru Scholar, will enlighten us with her talk on "Entangled and Ingested.”

These sessions promise to be as informative as they are engaging. Questions can be directed to Vince Breslin, Emma Cross, or Sean Grace at the numbers provided in the seminar schedule. Don't forget to stay after for refreshments and networking!
