MBA Certificate Programs

Admission Requirements 

The Southern School of Business offers certificate programs in Business Analytics, Healthcare Administration, and Human Resources Management. Admission into the certificate programs requires a bachelor’s degree and all applicants must submit their applications for admission through the Graduate School Application portal. Other requirements for the application include academic transcripts, resumes, a personal statement and two recommendation letters. All certificate program admissions will require approval by the MBA Program Director.

The certificate programs require 12 credit hours to complete. Students who currently do not meet the admission requirements of the full MBA program can enroll in the certificate programs and later transfer their certificate credits to the MBA program upon admission.

Business Analytics Certificate

In this certificate program, participants will gain conceptual knowledge of existing tools in the field of business analytics. More critically, participants will develop skills to perform sophisticated analysis on all types of business data to generate useful information.  Participants will develop skills to work on business problems using business data to identify patterns, ask relevant business questions, perform appropriate analysis, infer results and propose strategic solutions to business problems.

Healthcare Administration Certificate 

To prepare students who are seeking to build their healthcare management skills and explore healthcare administration careers, the School of Business offers the Healthcare Administration Graduate Certificate Program in collaboration with the Department of Public Health. The program fills the gap between demand and supply of healthcare administrators to help improve the quality and efficiency of the healthcare system and community. The Healthcare Administration Certificate is designed to prepare students for effective leadership roles in healthcare-related organizations and uses an interdisciplinary approach to achieve that goal. The credits students earn in the certificate program can be applied toward the MBA in Health Administration degree if the student chooses to continue their education at the School of Business.

Human Resource Management Certificate

This certificate program offers our students a pathway to build their HR skills on top of their undergraduate degrees which may be non-HR related. The program prepares students to build their fundamental skills for HR management (HRM) processes and be able to apply them at the workplace. The certificate provides students with tangible evidence that they have the desired knowledge, skills, abilities, and attributes to fulfill employer demands for HRM professionals. The credits earned in this certificate program can be applied toward an MBA in HRM, should the student choose to continue his or her education at Southern’s School of Business.
